Weekend Wrap Up

Well.. the Couch to 5K workout certainly got me sick. I woke up on Saturday feeling like crap, with a sore throat, sore muscles and a stuffy nose.

I slept most of the day, but went to my friend Noelle's apartment for her 27th birthday party (I was one of the hostesses). I threw together some really great punch, a few birthday food treats, and stuffed a pinata with some fabulous prizes.

Champagne Punch (This was a huge hit)!

2 Bottles of Champagne (you can use the cheap stuff)
1/2 bottle of vodka
1 can concentrated Limeaide
1 can concentrated Pink Lemonaide
1 can concentrated OJ
1 bottle gingerale

Mix together, and voila. Alcohol induced fabulousness.

I also threw together some Chocolate Caramel Crispy cakes which are incredibly fabulous, and taste like a classy rice krispee type dessert.

Chocolate Caramel Crispy Cakes

4 Milky Way bars
1/2 stick of butter
3 cups of Corn Flakes
40 mini cup cake wrappers

Melt milky way bars and butter under low heat, stirring frequently. Once melted, pour over corn flakes. Next, put corn flake mixture in mini cupcake wrappers and voila. Yumminess.

Anyways, the party was really fun and we ate well and played a lot of fun games. I only made it out until about 1am though because the sickness was certainly setting in.

On Sunday, John and I woke up and were off to Northern VA for his brand new goddaughter's baptism (I was still sick, but nothing a little cold medicine couldn't control). Where we also ate a lot, and I got to hold a baby for an hour. My favorite. J looks incredibly hot in a suit, so that was an added bonus.

On our way home we stopped by my parents house to watch the football games and to eat even more food. I probably shouldn't have pushed myself so much, but we have had both stops (and the b'day party) planned for weeks, so I didn't want to back out now. With J's busy schedule, it's important to take advantage of the time whenever we can.

Thank goodness I have today off, but I hate spending my days off sick as a dog. My throat still hurts, my stuffy nose is worse and my ears feel ridic. But, I think I should be on the mend. At least I better be, I have to go to work tomorrow (no ifs, ands or buts about it).

In other related news, I have been sick THREE times this winter. I'm beginning to think that there is something seriously wrong with me compromising my immune system. This is getting to be ridiculous. I'm hoping it's just that I work with kids everyday, but it really sucks to be out for the count for a few days at least once a month. Ugh.
