The Merge

Bummer. I knew that this was going to happen.

Boyfriend coined my wall art idea uncreative and not chic. He thinks that he saw it on the Brady Bunch.

He would prefer a black and white photo of a sailboat.

Which brings me to the question of merging things.

Boyfriend doesn't have a lot of stuff. I have lived alone since I was 22, so I have a lot of stuff. In fact, i have lived alone since I was 22 so I've become accustomed to doing things my way and having things the way that I like it.

Although I'm thrilled to be moving in with boyfriend--it is a little crazy that I'll never have things the way I want them ever again. Boyfriend cares far too much about home furnishings and home decor to let much slide. Unfortunately, I prefer classic and creative. He prefers... well I don't know what he prefers. From what I've learned so far it involves red velvet couches, sailboat art, and small plastic cows with polka dots.

What I do know is that boyfriend isn't the kinda guy that is going to say, "A purple bathroom, sure honey, if that makes you happy" or "Pink and green in the kitchen? Do it up, I'm masculine and I know it."

Regardless, it is really crazy that I'll never have a bachelorette pad ever again. I'm excited about the idea, but I'm not looking forward to packing up the purple, yellow and red.

How in the world did you ladies merge stuff?

If it makes you feel any better, my husband and I have been living together (pre-marriage) for about 5 years and he loves to tell my all my stuff is "tacky" and I reply, "no you are just boring with bad taste" :-)

Maybe you should give him his own room to decorate and then you get the rest of the apartment? I actually hate decorating, and Eric has decent taste so we haven't had too many problems. Don't worry about it too much. It seems like it is going to be impossible at first, but it eventually works out!

I don't even think I gave poor Ken an option to pick anything. Come to think of it...I basically put down anything he had...which wasn't much...he didn't live alone before we married...but I lived in our first house 6 months before...6 1/2 years later he still doesn't have much of a say...afterall..men are not suppose to care!! Maybe if you tell him that he isn't suppose to care...then maybe he won't. Good luck...sorry no real advice.

ummmmm....I do not believe that I can set any sort of an example for you. You know my merging process and have lived through it....so....just do everything the opposite and I am sure you will be fine!

John- you are so not yes, dear.

AD- I'm sure it will work out. I'm just bummed that I was vetoed.

JKW- I tried that.. it didn't work. I was all like, no guys care. Apparently one does.

I love your whole face- I'm def going to try that =]

J- What is wrong with your merging.. haha well I guess I kinda know.. but I thought that was all your stuff that you picked out.. not Rons. I can't picture Ron caring about home furnishings. =]
