Biggest Loser is Right

This isn't really a spoiler because I still have 5 minutes left on the DVR'ed version of the Biggest Loser and I don't know what happens....

If I have to hear you sob and moan about how you want to stay one more time I'm going to poke my eyes out with this here ice cream spoon.

You are both annoying.

You've been in the bottom two 2349327492374329 times and I've had to hear your wah, wah, wah-ing over and over again.

One of you can't even work out. YOu can do what your doing (i.e. barely working out and dieting) at home. Let someone who can bust their ass at the gym stay.

Snip Snap and Other Stuff

So Snap is currently home and is running around like a madman. I took him to the vet and she was pretty confused by him..

She thought he looked healthy, his heart sounded good, his eyes looked good, his lungs sounded good, he didn't have a temperature, no gingivitis or other teeth problems, but he did have a swollen lymph node.

She thinks/thought that he probably ate something that he should not have, bit through a wire (which he does on the daily-- it's annoying) and/or is allergic to his food.

She was thinking that if he ate something she would be able to tell and she couldn't.

The regime?

Subcutaneous fluids, anti nausea shot, and new prescription food.

If he's still drooling tomorrow, I need to take him in for blood work but she wanted to put it off because it's expensive. There is a teeny tiny chance that it could be liver and/or kidney failure but she doubts it considering he's only 1.5 yrs old.

Wish us a drool free night!

In other news, I won a fabulous new blog makeover giveaway and I'm looking forward to a new design!

More Snap

I managed to sleep through the night last night, but I did so on our couch (partly to keep an eye on Snap, partly because my fiance and I hate sharing a full size bed).
He is still drooling a little today, although not quite as bad.   I will be taking my baby boy (ha, yes, I'm referring to my cat) to the vet after work because I'd rather be safe than sorry.
I just hope he's okay home alone (with Sage) all day.  I would have taken off work but it's IEP day and we have a handful of meetings.
Wish us (me and Snap) luck.

I'm really worried about Snap tonight--

he's been drooling like crazy and he's never done that before. The fiance and I actually thought that he had an accident on the couch (it was that wet). After further examination, we realized it was drool.

He seems a little more tired than usual and he's allowing me more opportunities to cuddle him (weird, he usually tolerates 10 seconds) but he'll still eat treats, play with his toys and drink water.

Crap. I'm torn.

I should totally be in bed, but instead I'm going to be fretting about Snap and wondering if I should have taken him to the emergency room.

A word of advice. Don't google my cat is drooling. There isn't an answer out there.

Monday Make It

Welcome to the first edition of Monday Make It...

I'm not sure if I'll post a recipe weekly, but we ate this for dinner tonight and it was phenomenal.

Try it, you'll love it,

Cheesy Chicken and Salsa Skillet

2 cups multigrain penne pasta, uncooked
1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
1-1/4 cups TACO BELL® HOME ORIGINALS® Thick 'N Chunky Salsa
1 cup frozen corn, thawed
1 large green pepper, cut into short thin strips
1 cup KRAFT Mexican Style 2% Milk Finely Shredded Four Cheese

COOK pasta as directed on package.

MEANWHILE, heat large nonstick skillet sprayed with cooking spray on medium-high heat. Add chicken; cook and stir 2 min. Stir in salsa, corn and peppers. Bring to boil. Simmer on medium-low heat 10 min. or until chicken is cooked through, stirring occasionally.

DRAIN pasta. Add to chicken mixture; mix lightly. Sprinkle with cheese. Remove from heat; cover. Let stand 1 min. or until cheese is melted.

I've got Nothing

I've got all these big life changes, which are leaving me drained and with nothing to talk about...

So this is what you get for now...

1.Your ex is on the side of the road, on fire. What do you do? Three years ago I would have driven away, now I'd probably call 911. =]

13.Have you ever had a garage sale? My parents have made me help them have a garage sale.

14.What is the last beverage you had? Miller Light

15.Are you happy right now? Generally yes-- I'm engaged, I'm moving to my own house, I'm healthy. I would prefer that it wasn't Sunday though.

16.Who came over last? Our best man.

17.Do you drink energy drinks? Coffee is as crazy as I'll get.

18.Have your brothers or sisters ever told you that you were adopted? No, but my sister was found under a rock.

49.Say you were given a pregnancy test right now. Would you pass or fail? Ha, that's funny. I would not be pregnant.

50.What were you doing at midnight last night? Reading Breaking Dawn in bed.

The Movie

Okay, I promise that I'll stop talking about Twilight so much, but I watched the movie last night.

I got a little pissed every once in awhile and shouted out, "Hey, that didn't happen like that in the book" (fiance quickly shushed me), but it wasn't a terrible movie.

My only real complaint was that it lacked the passion that I imagined when I was reading the book. Where was the couple that couldn't keep their hands off of each other and were so in love? I don't really qualify staring at each other with teen angst similarly to how I would qualify passion.

Back Again...

..... with my Twilight play-by-play commentary.
I just finally finished Eclipse (I was distracted with wedding/house hunt).
I have to say, I liked it better than New Moon (not as much as Twilight), but I've discovered a few things.....
- I'm really not a fan of Bella right now.
- She's totally leading Jacob on and I find it VERY annoying.
- Listen girl, you're not that hot.  You have nothing on Rosalie and/or Alice.  As a result, you should NOT be stringing along two men.
- I know some people are on team Jacob.  I just think he's pathetic.  She doesn't like you.. get over her and stop making her head even bigger than it currently is.

Drum Roll

Finally, our news!

I'm sure that it takes very few of you by surprise but.....

p l e a s e

The fiance and I are purchasing a sweet little town home about 10 minutes away from where we currently live!

We searched high and low, we saw the crappiest craptastic stuff that the real estate market has to offer, then out of no where, we found our home.

I don't know if we were seriously looking-- we could have stayed in our apartment for another year at least, but we decided to just check out the listings and to visit the ones that caught our eye.

Most of what we saw induced vomit.

However, one day, we went to visit a town home. It's cute and yellow with blue shutters. It has three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and it looks like it really was well loved. It has a fenced in back yard (small) and a balcony off of the kitchen. The neighborhood is beyond cute and inviting.

When we walked in we just looked at each other and smiled. After we were done touring, we looked at each other and said -- this is it! It's not perfect, it needs some work, but it works for us.

I don't know what it was about that house-- and to be frank, we can't even remember what color the carpet is. The only thing we remember is the feeling that we got when we walked in.

Let's hope we weren't high on fumes when we were touring because as of today, it's ours (well if all goes as planned).

We put in an offer on Monday evening and she finally accepted today. It was stressful and neither of us slept for two nights, but now we know.

We're celebrating with Shepperd's Pie and Champagne.

Ya know...

I'm so dumb that I totally forgot that you could get a black tie and vest.

Like, HELLO?!?!

So did you do black tie and vest for the groom and groomsman, or did you get fancy and have the groom wear white tie and white vest?

You guys are so helpful and smart! That's why I love you all.

My heads in the gutter, but you will get to hear the good news soon. In fact, I could tell you right now but I gotta try to learn how to work a scanner first.

The fiance and I are scheduled to meet with the tux place later tonight...
My girls are wearing aubergine (i.e. deep purple) dresses.
I don't want to boys wearing deep purple, because it's a little prom-y
Do you think champagne vests/ties would be okay?  What about for the groom?
I need advice.

I forgot

If a real estate listing actually admits that the house "needs work," stay away... stay very far away.

Unless of course you don't mind living in a house without four walls.

I'm not expert but...

The fiance and I have officially viewed and/or heard about most of the houses in our area that are in the young newlywed and not that rich price category.
Because I'm practically an expert now, I will give you a few words of advice.
DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT even look at a house that does not have pictures with the MLS listing.
They aren't any pictures cause it's a piece of crap.
I don't care if the listing says that it's a well loved home, with beautiful upgrades and french doors.
If there aren't any pictures, well loved is code for total piece of crap.
Trust me, beautiful in real estate terms means barely okay.
New or newer means within the last 30ish years.
Even though we're in tough economic times right now-- you cannot get a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house for under 300,000 this close to D.C.
There may be plenty on the market, but those are really only applicable to couples who don't need a roof, that don't mind that the toilet is missing and that enjoy the smell of dog piss.

Which does he prefer?

Me or the beer?

I'll be back soon with actual content. We're currently waiting on something big and it's easier to keep it a secret when I don't write or talk at all. :)

Cut me off

To the people that annoyed me today:

Like the grandma in Trader Joes who kept crawling all up in my space and cutting me off.

To the weirdo in line that stood so close to me that he kept touching my hair. Gross.

To the traffic on the highway.

(yes, that is my actual butt. don't judge).

No one?

The fiance is shocked that you all have husbands and boyfriends that want to be with you 24/7 =]

Also... preppy peshke, your comment section has not been working.

Poor HB

Sometimes I feel bad for my fiance.
Although he doesn't complain much, I can tell that he wishes that he had just a little more man time.  Solo man time (and I don't mean that in a gross way).
The fiance works farther away than I do, so he generally leaves the house before I'm even out of bed, and I'm always home before he gets home.
It doesn't allow him much time to scratch, itch, control the remote and to do what he wants.
I do go to jazzercise now, which allows him a little more freedom-- but I'm usually home less than 20 minutes after he is when I do go to work out.
I have tried to help him out and planned a happy hour the week before last and a dinner out with girls this week to give him some alone time.  Unfortunately, both were cancelled.  Although I do get out a little bit, I don't have many invites from people to do anything that doesn't include boys, boyfriends, or husbands.
When I told fiance about the cancellations he handled it well, but I can tell that it's hard for him sometimes.  We ended up driving around the neighborhood, picking out houses and then went out to dinner, watched Big Love and had a fabulous night together (see, we love each other, we just need the house to ourselves sometimes).
I'm excited because tonight we're lined up to see at least four houses with our realtor and we were able to preview them last night.
So ladies, I must ask-- how do you handle manly alone time and similar situations?

Happy Day!

I won't go out just because it's a holiday and I should.

But I did wear green.

Dancing with the Stars, What?

I'm not going to lie, I have never watched Dancing with the Stars, until tonight.

But seriously, why is it that they say some people suck and some people are phenomenal, yet everyone on the show scores a 6?

How the heck are you supposed to win the judges only use the 5-6-7 cards?

Etsy Obsessed

I have been Etsy obsessed lately.

Seriously, Etsy is not only fun for regular people, but it's also a wedding planners (a.k.a. me- planning my own) dream site.

Truth be told, I can't really handle searching through pages and pages of stuff, but if you know what you're looking for it's actually quite easy to find it on etsy.

For example, I bought myself two pearl hairpins awhile back to wear in my hair on wedding day. They were less than 10 bucks and quite easy to find-- I just searched the term "pearl hairpins."

My latest obsession--- Etsy Alchemy.

Because I can't handle searching, I hit the custom button and put in a request for exactly what I want, offering to pay exactly what I want to pay.

I've already purchased several things from several fabulous sellers on Etsy....

My first Alchemy purchase-- all of the jewelry that I'm going to gift my bridesmaids with. I'm talking full sets and custom made earrings, necklaces and bracelets. I searched everywhere for champagne pearls and couldn't find them pre-made. I put in one request on Etsy and had 15 offers to make them within 24 hours.

I also put in a request for custom made stationary. Seriously, custom made stationary. I thought that I was asking for a lot (i.e. was never going to get it), but I offered to pay $30.00 for 75 custom made thank you notes with envelopes. Within 24 hours, 10 people had accepted my request.

I paid only 30 bucks to have the most beautiful monogrammed thank you cards (for after the wedding) made just for me AND while I was at it, I had 75 more cards made (with my name) for my bridal shower thank you notes.

Oh, and as a bonus-- my seller is going to preprint my return address on each and every envelope. 150 invites, 150 preprinted envelopes, 60 bucks.

I love Etsy.

The Cats

What happened to Sammy has me thinking a lot about my kitties.

Of course I'm sad to learn about Sammy's passing, but she wasn't really my dog and I haven't lived with her for about 9-10 years.

I am going to lose my shit when it's time for Snap and Sage to pass.

Seriously, I'll lose.my.shit.

The fiance seconds that notion (about me losing it, not him).

I'll pass on the condolences to my parents. They have two other dalmatians at home (under 2 years of age) that are sure to be keeping them busy and distracted.

Sad News

My mom just called and let me know that our family dog, Sammy, passed away yesterday.

She was 15 years old and she definitely had a good run.

I only lived with Sammy for 5 years (when she was still very young) but she was always so excited to see me when I went to visit.

She'll be greatly missed.

Budget Saturday

The most recent addition to my spring wardrobe.

This dress......

......from Walmart.

I'm generally not a Walmart (clothes) shopper, but this dress is totally cute and it's only $15.00

I obviously purchased it in black as well.

One of those Weeks

I know, I've been M.I.A. more than usual.

I don't have an excuse and I was going to post yesterday, but I had a Shiteous day at work.

Seriously, I never want to go back. I wish that were possible.

I'm trying not to let it get me down and I'm going to try to enjoy my weekend!

I'm not Alone

It's not just me.

Last night, my future sister-in-law slept over.

She's going to Ireland this weekend and needed a book to read on the plane. Of course I told her to read Twilight.

She said, "No."

Her reasoning?

Her friends told her that after they read it they had dreams that they were flying (although technically running, since they run in Twilight) around like vampires every night and she didn't want that to happen to her.

That has SO happened to me.

It makes me feel so much better to know that i'm not the only crazy one out there.

The Bachelorette

Okay, I know that this is still quite far off but......

Is it crazy that I don't want to go crazy during my bachelorette party?

I'm not that old, yet I have no desire to bar hop, take shots or stay up until 4 a.m. ... and I'm not just referring to my bachelorette party.... I don't like to do that in real life either.

{I shouldn't mislead you and make you think that I don't like to drink. Drinking, I do. I just prefer drinking in pajamas}.

But, is it a rite of passage? Must we get trashed, wear a tube top and a penis necklace, and go nuts for the last time?

(It really would be the last time)...

Or can I keep dreaming about a bachelorette party that includes one cottage, several girls, the beach, sweat pants, and a picnic table outside?

Didn't I just mention that no one reads my blog?

It only took two years, but finally, I have 159 comments.

It took a surprise-- on the fly-- giveaway and it will probably never happen again, but it was good while it lasted.

Without further ado, the handy dandy truly random number generator chose comment #131!

Congratulations to Jennifer from The Happenings!

Drew and Ashley: Secret Swoozie Giveaway!!!

Drew and Ashley: Secret Swoozie Giveaway!!!

Another Dress

My parents came up this weekend to visit for a few hours and to have some lunch.

While we were out, we were walking through Nordstroms and I fell in love with another silk shantung Adrianna Papell dress.

This one is slightly more expensive (168, I think) and it's not actually on the Nordstrom website yet. I did find an exact replica of the dress on the Adrianna Papell website, but the dress that I saw and want is in navy blue, not black.

Now this dress would be perfect for a shower (I could save the other for the rehearsal). Seriously, I need to stop visiting Nordstroms, I'm sure to find about 150 other dresses that I want between now and the wedding- which still happens to be about 7 months away I might add.

Between You and Me

I borrowed this idea from Jackie over at Tales of a Northerner for my own wedding. The fiance and I purchased two of the Between Me and You, Honey journals to fill out between now and our wedding day.

The book is full of questions about our relationship and we plan to give them to one another (completed of course) on our wedding day. I cannot wait to read what the fiance has to say.

I also purchased the Daughter and Sister books (I don't think they read my blog) to fill out for my parents and sister. I'm going to give my parents the Daughter book at our rehearsal dinner as a thank-you gift for our wedding. Buying my parents a gift that they can enjoy is difficult, but I think they would love receiving a journal from me about my relationship with them. I'm going to give my sister the Sister book as a maid of honor gift.

What did you do for your family/MOH on your wedding day?

Skin Help!

Throughout my teens, I never had more than one pimple on my face at a time.

Now that I'm nearing my late 20's, I'm breaking out like crazy (gee, makes sense, right?).

It may not sound like much to you, but I have five little pimples on my face at this moment and it's driving me crazy. They look ugly, the make my coloring look uneven and I don't know what to do with them.

I NEED some HELP, please.

I have never worn foundation in my life, but I will wear concealer (probably the wrong kind) if I have a zit. The problem is-- whenever I wear concealer it just looks fake and obvious.

Can you recommend any great ideas to help in this area?

I'm open to make-up, face wash, zit cream etc. It has come to the point that I need professional (blogger of course) help.

If it helps, my current skin care regime includes-

Wake up, assume that the water in the shower washes my face and put on oil of olay moisturizer. Put on eye makeup, try to cover up zits but suck at it.

Before bed, I was my face with Exuviance cleansing gel and go to bed.

New Moon and Edward Cullen

I finally finished New Moon. It took me quite a bit longer than Twilight, but I got through it and I'm glad that I did. It most certainly got better towards the end.

I do have some random comments about it though,

1. Is it just me or is Charlie quite hostile (more so than ever) towards the end of this book?

2. I'm not a fan of Jacob.

3. I agree with Darth Mama and LOVED that she left months blank, to truly outline the deep depression that Bella was experiencing.

4. I love Alice. I wish that she was my best friend.

5. I'm a little disappointed that the love between Edward and Bella was not as awe inspiring at the end of this book. I remember thinking how beautiful they were together in Twilight, but I didn't feel that way when I ended New Moon.

6. I hate that I read the book after I the movie came out, because now I can only picture Edward and Bella as how I saw them in the ads for Twilight, rather than how they were originally depicted in the story.

7. I'm having dreams that I'm running around (flying) like a vampire with my family. It's a little bit disturbing.

Eclipse is due back at the library on March 13th, I need to get on it.

Sunday Already?

I'm sure that everyone is going to complain about this, but I'm going to join in.... Springing forward really screws me up. It's 9:00pm and I'm not even remotely ready for bed. This is going to be a long week.

Another thing that screws me up (but I can't complain) is the fact that we had a snow storm on Monday, yet it was in the 70's all weekend. I love the warm weather, but this rapid weather cycle is slightly annoying. I don't have the space in my closet to keep a full 4 season wardrobe readily available.

In Maryland, we appear to have two seasons. Cold as hell and hotter than hell.

Today, the fiance and I were all lined up to view three houses with our real estate agent, but we found out that his mother in law was killed this weekend and we needed to reschedule. With all of the extra time, we decided to go downtown to walk around and soak up the sunlight.

On our stroll we stopped by Barnes and Noble. Did you know that they have a whole wedding section?

The fiance and I came home and bought several of the books shown above on Amazon (it's always way cheaper). I love reading wedding stuff and the fiance actually offered to read a book about being a groom (isn't he sweet). We also purchased the Do You Know your Bride and the Do You Know your Groom game. I'm looking forward to drinking some wine and pulling that out soon. We also purchased a book called, "101 Things I Wish I knew When I got Married: Simple Lessons to Make Love Last." Did you do anything like this when you were getting married?

Shopping Score!

I know that it's a little early to be shopping for wedding wear (i.e. bridal shower, rehearsal dinner etc), but I've had my eye on a certain dress since December.

I've been stalking the Nordstroms website ever since looking for sales, coupon codes, etc. Three months later and this baby has yet to go on sale (HOLY CRAP, has it really been three months since Christmas? It feels like yesterday-- sorry, moving on).

The picture is not necessarily flattering, but it looks SUPER cute on and in person. I love it (purple is by far my favorite color)! It's by Adrianna Pappell, it's silk shantung and it's $138.00.

The old Ashley would have no problem dropping 138 bucks on a silk shantung dress. Especially if it was for an occasion such as a bridal shower. The new Ashley is on a strict budget thanks to her fiance, an expensive honeymoon, and the need for a one carat total weight wedding band.

When I realized that Nordstrom wasn't going to throw me a bone, I started watching ebay... every single week. The dress was NEVER listed, until one day, a week ago---- the only one ever listed---- and in my size.

It was fate. I needed it. Sorry fiance. Did I mention that I got it for less than 60 bucks new with tags?

Hump Day

I'm exhausted. Again today.  I cannot tell you how bad I wanted to stay in bed this morning.
SIDENOTE: The fiance and I share a very small bed.  A full sized bed to be exact.  When one of us can't sleep, both of us can't sleep.
Last night, the fiance was worked up because the Terps lost some basketball game.  He was tossing and turning and kindly left the bed at about midnight and headed for the couch.
Of course I love sleeping with him and want to every night, but sometimes it's nice to spread the heck out.  I slept really well last night, so well that I had NO desire to move this morning.
I had to, and I did.  I was a zombie in the shower and I somehow knocked my head while blow drying my hair.  I have a very large lump on my forehead to prove it.  All that I know is that I was blow drying my hair upside down, knocked the blow dryer on the sink, which in turn knocked my forehead.
Nothing like working when you are exhausted AND have a headache.
In other news, I watched the second After the Final Rose special last night.  There is NO redemption in my eyes.  He's still an a$$ and I still hate his guts.  Yes, I see that he's in love with Molly and that's he's happy, but I still think he's a jerk.  I like Molly, and for her sake, I hope that it works out.  However, I hope she makes him work REALLY hard for it and tortures him just a little bit.
I do not necessarily believe that the producers put him up to this and made him choose Melissa only to dump her for Molly.  If they did, I don't see why anyone would ever agree to that.  Yes, please make me look like the biggest a$$ on television, it would be fun.  You would either have to be seriously impaired cognitively or on crack to agree to that.
I have also decided that I do not believe that Molly and Jason didn't talk and see each other when he was still with Melissa.  They looked far to smug and far too intimate to be seeing each other for the first time in a month and a half.
Whatever, I hope that someone spills the beans someday.  I would love nothing more than to read a tell all book authored by Melissa.

Twilight Update

Twilight Update

edward cullen Pictures, Images and Photos

I loved the first book. I devoured the first book in a matter of 36 hours.

I am having a really hard time getting into the second book; New Moon.

I don't care about Jacob and working on motorcycles. I want Edward back and it's taking FAR too long.

I didn't have to work last Tuesday through this Monday.

I had a two hour delay this morning.

Yet, I still feel like this....

yawn Pictures, Images and Photos

I literally think that I could sleep for days and still never feel rested. It's tres annoying.

Blog Depressed

I've been blogging since 2007 and I really do not have much of a following.

Of course I love all of my faithful readers, but it blows my mind that some people have only blogged for two months and have triple the amount of followers and google reader subscriptions than I do.

I need hints and tricks... what can I do to get myself just a teeny tiny little following? Apparently, what I'm doing isn't really working.

In case you were wondering

The fiance did have to work today and my worrying really interrupted my ability to sleep in and enjoy my snow day. =]

Oh, and from now on, I think that I'm going to refer to the fiance as HB. I hate writing fiance without the little dash over the top (and I'm too technologically challenged to figure out how to do it) and HB is actually what we call each other in real life.

The HB doesn't stand for HusBand, but it will work when we get married too.

Holy Crap!

I just finished watching the Bachelor Finale.

I'm too pissed to give you anymore warnings.

Granted, I knew exactly what was going to happen-- I've been stalking all of the gossip blogs for weeks, but I was praying that it wasn't true.

Jason Mesnick is the biggest asshole on the face of this earth.

I get his reasoning, you don't want to live with regrets, but don't go and pick the wrong girl in the first place.

Poor Melissa- I feel so terrible for her. I think that she was genuinely interested in Jason, and she reminds me a lot of myself- The kind of girl that will love some one and give them EVERYTHING no matter what (trust me, it's gotten me in trouble too during life Pre-Fiance).

Melissa brought up several very good points--
1. That he's a bastard. I'm so happy she said that aloud.

2. That he should have let her go if he had any doubts.

3. Her point that a proposal is a one time thing. He stole that from her, and I'm damn glad she told him that. When you are little, most people don't dream of 100 proposals, you dream of that one. She's been robbed of that forever.

I think she handled herself VERY well and I still don't get his reasoning.

Was he implying that she changed and that the chemistry wasn't there, or was it all his fault?

Seriously, he's SUCH an asshat prick shit.

Moving on to Molly. I genuinely like her too and I wish her the best. I think that she has strong feelings for Jason as well, but I really, really wish that she said that she did not give him another chance.

He stood there at the final rose ceremony and told her that he didn't love her and that Melissa made him much happier. Molly is a much stronger person that I am, because I couldn't get past what happened first.

So tell me--- do you believe that they never talked and/or saw each other after the finale? Several reports stated that they were talking daily and visiting each other.

It's strange that he would dump Melissa without even knowing if Molly would take him back, but at the same time, she seemed really shocked.

I need answers!!! What is your opinion? Would you take him back?

I cannot wrap my head around this.

Target Fun

Target. They are doing it again.

Every spring, they suck me in with their fabulous-and cheap-clothes.

I want one of each of these.....

Hello, super cute, nautical AND I can wear it to work.

Perfect in every way, and I can wear it to work.

A shirt dress. I love them. Enough said.

HB is going to kill me. He wants me to stop spending money, but I could buy three things at Target for the price of one thing at a regular store.

Essentially, I'm being thrifty and I'm just looking out for him. Does he really want to marry a chick with last season's clothes?

The Programs

This is the look that I'm going for....

(Shamelessly stolen from Etsy- please don't catch me and arrest me).

I love it, but I know that I can do it cheaper so I'm going to do it myself. I made my own save the dates and I'm receiving calls left and right about how they are "the best save the dates anyone has ever seen." Okay, obviously my friends and family are so totally biased, but I'm going to go with it and hope that their enthusiasm does not waiver.

To make sure that they come out okay, I'm going to start them now, seven months ahead of time. I ordered the cardstock online, in bulk. I bought a gold leaf metallic for the book, a deep plum for the small square, and an ecru colored paper for our monogram (the monogram is champagne and deep plum). My mom rocks and already made ours in photoshop!

So, for the next seven months I'm going to print out the monograms, glue them to the deep plum paper, and glue those to the gold metallic paper. I'll punch the holes, buy the perfect ribbon, and then wait until the week before the wedding to add the pages with our actual ceremony information.

You may call me crazy. I like to call it efficient.

The Countdown

7 Months, 2 Weeks, and 1 Day until the wedding.

7 Months, 2 Weeks, 1 Day and the following have already been planned, acquired and deposited....

1. The Dress
2. Half of the Bridesmaid Gifts
3. The Church
4. The Reception Hall
5. The Shoes, The Veil and the Pearls
6. The Honeymoon
7. The Florist
8. The Save the dates (sent)
9. The invitations
10. I'm starting the programs (pathetic I know)
11. The Room Block
12. The Registry
13. The Website
14. The D.J.
15. The photographer
16. The Wedding Bands
17. The Bridesmaid Dresses
18. The Make-Up Artist (Thanks Brook)
19. The shuttle buses
20. The Favors

22. The Blurb Guest Book

Seriously.. I have all this done and now I have to wait 7 months.

Torture... I'm telling you.

That's what you get for being anal, type A and a natural born planner.

(So tell me, what am I missing?)

We have a snow day tomorrow....

and THAT is why I'm still awake.

The fiance thinks that he'll have to work (I'm pissed, I don't want him driving to D.C. in this), so I'm having a private, quiet party while he sleeps.

Just me and the two kids er cats.

The DVR is calling my name..............

Meeting of the Minds

So last night, my family and the fiance's family met again.

My parents wanted to talk about one dreaded thing-- the wedding budget.

As if melding two families isn't hard enough-- talking about money only makes things harder.

To say that the fiance and I were dreading last night is an understatement.

His family is loud and they know what they want. My family is loud and the know what they want (a scary mix). Things started off a little rocky, but they ended quite pleasantly!

Of course his family offered a lot of opinions (they've done this before with their daughter) and my family offered several counter opinions (they are paying for 99% of this event) but after about 1 hour of hashing out the wedding details, we were able to compromise, move on and spent the next five (YES FIVE, so it must have gone well) hours drinking, enjoying each others company, and getting to know each other.

The fiance and I spent the entire car ride home in disbelief that things went that well.

Now, if all goes well, we'll be getting 6-10 inches of snow this evening. I think that it sounds too good to be true for several reasons.

1. I despise meteorologists and think they lie.

2. Maryland has NEVER seen more than 2 inches in the 3 years that I've lived here.

I swear, the entire state goes into panic with two inches! How are they supposed to survive 6-10?

We made the mistake of visiting the grocery store this afternoon.

It's official. The state is in panic already and there isn't a snow flake in sight.

Man, oh Man, have I been MIA or what?

As you know, I left town for Boston on Tuesday afternoon. I traveled to Boston for the National School Psychologist convention with two of my bridesmaids (it's becoming our thing, we've done it for three years now).

Despite the fact that I was dreading reentering the northern tundra, I was looking forward to a week off of work without actually having to take the days off.

The plane ride to Boston was uneventful and we made it to the hotel without much of a hassle. The week was actually pretty nice-- I bought some new jeans (yay to no sales tax), I got some exercise (a lot of walking), I ate at some fabulous restaurants and I had an overall great time.

My bridesmaids and I actually attended several conference events (I am very proud to report), and we spent at least 4 hours each day at the conference. I'm not going to lie and tell you that the workshops interesting, but it was a great chance to earn some professional development CPD's.

Because I went to UMass for undergrad and Tufts for graduate school I ran into a lot of people that I knew. It was so fun to see everyone again, to talk about my wedding, and to get updates from everyone. The best part, I did not run into one single person that I didn't want to see.

On Wednesday night, I even got to reconnect with two of my roommates from college. I hardly ever see them anymore, but when we got together, we didn't skip a beat and it felt like old times. I was so glad to see them! There is nothing like sharing Mexican and margaritas with your two new (well semi-new) friends and some of your oldest friends.

Seeing them really made me miss Boston-- but maybe not enough to move back (Maryland is warmer, more affordable, and of course the fiance lives there).

Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, but hopefully one of my friends will send me some of theirs.
