Tips or No Tips

Do any of you ladies have an opinion on fake nails (tips)?

I've never had them done, but my natural nails are a little sad looking.

I bite them too often and they are quite thin.

Is it worth trying the fakes for my wedding?

Please, weigh in!

Although I've had them many times, I would vote no. I always regret having them b/c I think they end up doing more harm than good. Yes, they make your nails look GREAT, but once you take them off...your nails are shot until they grow back out, and sometimes even after.

So, that's my vote, but I'm sure others will weigh in.

Don't do it!!! I used to wear acrylic nails all the time and they will just make your nails worse when you take them off. You still have a couple of weeks right? So my suggestion is to start taking a multivitamin every day (make sure it has biotin in it). Go to Beauty Brands or somewhere similar and pick up a bottle of Nail Envy (original) and go to Walgreens, CVS, etc. and get a bottle of brush on nail glue. Put the nail glue on for strength at first and the nail envy to help your nails grow. Then for your wedding day have a manicure done (with the Nail Envy as a base coat & top coat) and get a pale pink (OPI Bubble Bath is beautiful). Your nails will look gorgeous and you'll be thankful you didn't spend the time or money on the fake nails. Good luck either way and let us know what you decide to do. :) XOXO

I have had nails several times since I was 16 and they really are not worth the money and damage they do to my nails. And then... The maintenance drives me crazy! I hate sitting still for an hour every 2 weeks. I favor manicures and I keep my nails short, it looks clean and is easy to maintain. Just my experience...!

I had them for my wedding and then a few months after, they looked nice, but removing them and dealing with the after math from them SUCKED!

I have the same problem with my natural nails being a little "blah". I got tips put on before the wedding and I am SO glad that I did. Especially for the pictures where my hands were well visible or part of the main focus of the pic.

The aftermath IS a pain in the ass, but I feel like it was 100% worth it.

I definitely have some pictures where when I saw them I thought "boy, am I glad I got my nails done for this..."

I think fake nails look great when kept short. You could go with a neutral color. I think it would look great for pictures. If you only keep them on for a week or two, the aftermath is not that bad at all. Have the professionals take them off instead of taking them off yourself. Gel nails are better for your real nails than acrylic. They do those most anywhere these days. They're a little extra, but well worth it.

There are pros and cons. Once you get them and take them off, it takes a while for you natural nails to grow back in and look nice. However, if you decide to get them, make sure to have them filed to a round shape and keep the color natural, it will make them look real as opposed to looking fake.

No, no, no! It's totally not worth it. My nails were ruined for almost 6 months after I took mine off AND one of my bridesmaids got a horrible infection in her nail that looked pretty nas-tay for almost a year (we're talking no nail for half of that time..). I say get the No-Bite stuff so you stop biting, and get some nail hardener to get them a bit longer and you'll be okay. There's really only going to be like 2 pictures that show your hands anyway.
