Bathroom Redesign on a Dime

My parents arrived bright and early on Saturday and we got to work. My mom and I headed to home depot to buy wood floors and the boys stayed home to remove the toilet, the sink and the baseboards. My husband decided to get really handy and changed out all of the gold fixtures with pewter fixtures.

We decided to go with oak laminate flooring in the bathroom because I love the look of wood floors in the bathroom. Plus, click and lock laminate is a million times easier to do than tile (which was a major plus). We bought one box of 20 sq ft. oak floors and we were out the door. We spent day one installing the new floors, repainting the ceiling and the walls, and cutting the new baseboards. On Sunday, we taped off the entire room (we went with stripes), painted, installed the gorgeous new baseboards, installed the new light fixture and reinstalled the toilet and sink.

Overall, the entire project took about 12 hours and it looks a million times better. It's nearly impossible to take a good picture in a half bath, but this is what we came up with.......

The new light fixture-- much nicer than our old one, which looked like light bulbs stuck in a 2x4.

I loved the idea of horizontal stripes to open up our small bathroom. In this picture they look a bit orange, but the colors that we used were Glidden's Antique White and Natural Linen.

We still need to install our towel ring and toilet paper holder, but we just haven't gotten around to it. I'm also looking for some art or accessories to put over the toilet. Do you have any ideas?

Our old sink had the standard gold home depot fixtures, I love the look of the new ones.

and best of all.. the amazing floors. They really look phenomenal and we're so excited about them. Our dining room, hall way and kitchen have laminate wood floors and these match well, without being too matchy matchy.

So how much did we spend-

20 SqFt of Oak Laminate flooring- $69.00
New Light Fixture- Home Depot- $28.00
2 Gallons of Glidden Paint- On Sale- $28.00
Pewter Bathroom Fixtures- Recycled from my parent's old bathroom- $0.00
New 6 inch baseboards- $25.00
Total- about $175.00 for a complete bathroom overhaul.
