Happy (Belated) Easter!

I could have wished you a Happy Easter yesterday, but things were hectic so I figured that one day late is better than not at all.

The husband and I are blessed to live about an hour from most of our immediate family members, but that closeness makes for a hectic holiday.

On Saturday, we ventured to Northern Virginia to celebrate with my side of the family. My brother, sister, aunt, uncle and cousins all came up for the day. We drank a lot, we ate BBQ and we played a little bit of old school four square.

If you've been a longtime reader-- you may remember that my family has a longstanding Easter egg decorating competition. I was a little nervous about participating this year (due to an unfortunate incident with a glue gun last year) but was trying to rally and to allow the creative juices to flow.

(the winner circa 2004)

As luck would have it, after an afternoon of day drinking and four square, we were all too tired to compete. Are we all getting old or what? It's a little disappointing, but it gives me another year to get creative. It's hard to come up with ideas every year.

On Sunday we had brunch and relaxed at my parents house. In the early afternoon we headed over to my sister in law's house to celebrate with John's side of the family and to eat Easter dinner. The weather was gorgeous and it was too cute to watch my husband bond with his two-year-old god daughter all afternoon.

Now, it's back to work and back to the grind. Here's hoping I can sleep tonight! :)
