All About Google Reader

My last post brought up a few questions about Google Reader. Basically, it's a blogging time saver and a great organizational tool.

If you have a gmail account, you have access to google reader. If you log into your gmail account and look at the icons at the top (i.e. Calender, Documents etc.) you will find a tab that says "Reader."

1. All you have to do is click on that and then click on the add a subscription button.

2. Copy and paste the links of all of your favorite blogs into the add a subscription feature.

Then, whenever you want to read blogs on your computer, go to google reader and it keeps track of when your friend's updated their blog and if you've read their updates. Instead of clicking on a million blog links every day only to find out that your friend hasn't updated, google reader keeps all of your subscriptions linked and organized in one place.

I read all of my blogs this way because I find it to be an easier method than the click method. Of course, to comment you must click on the blog, but I certainly don't mind doing that.

Another great selling point-- the search option. If I remember that so and so wrote about a fabulous recipe last year- I can search all of the blogs that I read for certain key words. Beats searching through someones archives for hours.

Anyways, I swear by google reader- but to each their own.

Also, unless you specifically log on to google reader and change your feed options, everyones blog comes up in full text (that's for your Laurie-- yours reads perfectly).

I hope this helps clarify some things! Enjoy!

I used Google Reader for a long time, but recently switched to Bloglovin'. It's pretty similar.

I don't even use blogger to read blogs! The only time I log on there is to post a blog. I always use reader.. so much easier and it keeps everything organized :) These people are missing out! haha

I love Google Reader too. Can you believe I learned about it at a tech class for teachers of all places?
