Maintaining Motivation

I need help maintaining exercise motivation. 
 
Although I work 12 months (year round), my summers are so much easier.  I rarely drive out to my schools, and instead base out of the main office less than five minutes from my house.  If I need to go home for lunch, I can.  The gym is about 2.5 minutes from work and on my way home.  It was easy to work out. In fact, I loved working out.  The fact that I had every Friday off this summer helped as well.  It helped a lot. 
 
This summer I managed to work out faithfully-- at least 5 days per week.  I did step aerobics for an hour on Mondays, Zumba or a machine on Tuesdays, a strengthening class on Wednesdays, Zumba on Thursdays, spin class or a machine on Fridays, and then I would usually go on either Saturday or Sunday for a class or for a machine.  All of the classes were an hour long and when I used a machine I would do so for 30 minutes (mind you I barely lost a pound, but that is a post for another time). 
 
Now that I'm back in school-- back to working until 4pm at the earliest-- back to driving at least half an hour each way-- I am losing my motivation.  Yesterday I packed my gym bag before work and went on the way home but it wasn't easy.  I work in the opposite direction during the school year and have to pass my house to get to the gym. 
 
Thanks to longer hours and the commute, I feel like when I work out it's harder to have time to relax in the evening.  This summer I could work out and be home with plenty of time to catch up with the DVR and to read my books.  How do you keep motivated all year round?

I am probably not the best person to motivate you (seeing as I cant motivate myself to exercise either), but YOU CAN DO IT!! Think about how much energy you have afterwards! I know that I always feel such a sense of accomplishment after some exercise!

I have no advice... I'm struggling right there with ya, sister! I was super motivated prior to my vacation at the beach, but when I got back a couple weeks ago? Um.. yeah. No gym for me!

I have the same problem, so if you figure it out let me know.

I've tried the workout buddy thing multiple times (like I don't learn the first time) but none of my friends drive so I have to drive them- and my issue is that when I have time to go I just need to do it then. I don't like waiting around for someone else. I don't like people taking up a ton of time getting ready, or cleaning up after we leave. I hate feeling like I'm wasting time.

I just have too much to do.

Also, any schedule I seem to come up with will work for like a month and then stuff happens and it doesn't anymore. Much like your summer vs. fall schedule.

I feel like I could have written this myself....I am looking for my motivation as well! It's hard with work, school, and family. So if you find the answer, please share :)

I'm so with you on this. It's nearly impossible right now. Just wait until you have a baby on top of that. I feel so guilty when I want to go work out and have to leave my son to do so, and have to leave my hubby to watch him alone, etc. It's a pain! :(

ps - on another note...for your ToT yesterday, we're so alike! I majored in psychology and LOVED al my classes! at the very end, I also had extra hours and decided to do sociology too. im fascinated with people!! :)

It is hard for me to get motivated to work out sometimes. I hate doing it after work but I go to work at 545 am. So it works better for me after. I just have to make myself do it.

Ugh, it's so hard to stay motivated! I honestly have to look through catalogs to find clothes I really want to fit into, cut them out and put them in my wallet to look at when I go out to eat! LOL!
