Well, it's been about a year and a half since our wedding, but I figured that I would revisit it by answering some questions about our special day.
I'm more than happy to do so because it is one of my favorite topics. In fact, it continues to live on as the best day ever, the best party ever, and the best meal ever.
I'll break the questions into several posts, starting with these questsions.....
How many dresses did you try on before you found "the one?"
I went to exactly one shop and I found my dress by accident. I didn't mean to start shopping, I was just browsing but they conned me into trying on a few dresses. I think I tried on 4 or 5 dresses until I found the one. I couldn't sleep. I couldn't stop thinking about it. I was in love. My mom and sister came to see it two days later and the rest was history. I do wish I had shopped around more and tried on more dresses before settling on the one that I chose. I did LOVE it, but I do wish I had looked around more first-- just to have the experience.
When I went in to find my dress I knew with 100% certainty that I wanted a lace dress. I loved the lace of my dress and it's what made me fall in love with it initially. My dress was satin underneath and the color was called White Godiva Chocolate.
One thing that I did NOT want was a strapless dress. This dress HAD straps when we purchased it and it was actually a v-neck tank dress. Everyone voted that it looked more flattering without the tank portion so they custom made the entire top half of my dress to turn it into a sweetheart neckline.
The bottom lace scalloping on my dress was my favorite part. I also adored the super long train. I don't have any great pictures of my dress from the back with the train showing, but this will give you a basic idea of what it looked like.
A peek at the jewelry that I borrowed for the wedding.
The handkerchief that belonged to my deceased grandmother. The A not only stands for Ashley, but it also stands for the first initial of my maiden name.
The infamous Steelers/Redkins garter that has since been lost. I have no idea what happened to it after John tossed it to the men.
I'll be back with more questions and details soon. If you have a question for me feel free to ask. I'm more than happy to talk about my wedding.
