Sometimes I wish my name was Olivia Mae or Ezekiel and that I lived in the olden days. Where I didn't get ripped off at the grocery store and didn't need to waste a trillion dollars on gas.

I'm not trying to get all political up in here but what happened to all that CHANGE that was highly anticipated a few years ago?

The only change I see is a gas bill that is a SH#T-TON higher than what it was a year or two ago and groceries that are a heck of a lot more expensive. Despite the promise of change, I haven't had a step increase in over 4 years. I looked and figured out that I should be making well over 10,000 dollars more than I do now. Change my a$$.

The hubs and I used to budget 200 dollars a month on gas. Now we're spending well above 400 dollars a month and I spend most months worried and losing sleep about how we're going to make ends meet.

Today, while filling up my tank I was trying to think of ways to save money on gas. Well, short of buying a horse and buggy and becoming Amish, I can't do anything about it. One of my schools is 50 miles away (round trip) in rural Maryland. There is no public transportation to the boonies.

I know we aren't the only ones experiencing these difficulties, but man, life is hard.

I'm off to find a free trial of the Oregon trail and to find a way to convince my husband that we must move to rural Virginia, North Carolina and/or Delaware, where we can be rich with half the cash. Wish me luck!

Hah! Oregon Trail. Remember when commodore 64's were cool? LOL

I totally feel your pain. We've been shopping a lot more at box-stores like Costco & buying fresh produce from mom & pop stores instead of bigger chain stores. I make fun of those extreme couponers, but maybe they're on the right track? I've heard tell of those magic superstores like Big K or Walmart that have groceries in them? We don't even have a Walmart as far as I know.

If it makes you feel any better, gas by us is $4.37 & just over the border in CT it's reached $4.99.

Apparently there are places like Costco, Walmart & BJ's that actually sell gas too - apparently it's theeee place to buy gas b/c since it's a nat'l chain, they have to keep their prices consistent. Good to know, but we don't have them near us. :(

Ugh. We have had to redo our budget countless times because of the hiked price of gas and fresh produce. it's painful. i truly think i cry a little each time i put gas in my car- and i'm just shuttling carter around BumbleEff, Maryland. Totally re-thinking that decision to live out in the middle of nowhere now.. WOOF.

:( If I win the lottery, I'll share. Oh, wait.. we don't even have enough "blow" money to buy tickets!!

Ugh, I couldn't agree more! I cringe every time I have to fill up my tank and it takes $60+ and what's worse is it's not a cost you can avoid!

I'm so right there with you. I heard that grocery prices are up 7% and income is up 1%. And as far as income goes, I'm RIGHT there in the same I'm-not-making-nearly-as-much-as-I-should-be boat. And I work for my mom! It scares me, too, because she has one employee who's been with her for 4 years and is only making 25k when she should be bringing home around 40k, conservatively. Her lack of increase of the years has me scared for my future! And I knew all that change crap was just to get him elected - apparently a lot of other people didn't quite catch on... :-)
